The trout & steelhead fishing all over the Sacramento River has been great. With the recent rains, lots of fish have moved into the river system and the fish are on the bite. We have been fishing Glo Bugs, Roe, Hot Shot plugs, and flies. There are some winter run salmon that have come up the river to spawn in the riffles and runs in the upper section of the river. The trout and steelhead continue to feed behind the spawning fish. The flows in the river are low and the water has been very cold making the fishing red hot. The river has been quiet and there have been a lot less boats on the water due to the low flows. The stripers are moving into the lower sections of the river and the fishing should heat up within the next couple months.
